How Does Gender Affect the Teaching Profession?
Back in the day teaching was seen as a male-only profession, as women had no rights. Over time though, women were able to get jobs as teachers and slowly borderline kicked men out of the main spot for teaching. Now male teachers are painted in a bad light because teaching is seen as a women's job. Often times men are judged because people think they will not be as good and caring as women, and in some cases, they are seen as creeps when teaching very young children. It is all very sad and unnecessary. I personally believe because of the way radical feminists have painted men to be these awful, disgusting, worthless beings in recent years has made it even harder for men to be accepted as teachers. At the end of the day, it is all about how the person is taking care of, and teaching our children. It should never be about what is between their legs, what the color of their skin is, or even what god they worship. Of the experiences I have had in my own schooling, there have been equally bad male and female teachers. No gender is better than the other. People need to stop focusing on all of the negatives in the world before they can make any changes and gain true equality. We should be grateful that we have access to schools with multiple teachers to educate us on the most important things we need to know to survive in life.
Hey Maddie! I agree that gender shouldn't matter. This goes for every profession. In most cases it's the questioning of the female's ability to do a job. Teaching is one of the few examples where it is the other way around. In a perfect world everyone would be able to any job that they wanted without the question of how their gender impacts how they are able to do the job. I think to change this cycle of thinking that one gender is better than the other, it is our job as future teachers to think about how we will make our students feel equal and know that they can do anything they want to no matter what gender or race they are.
ReplyDeleteHi Maddie! I agree that men and women should be looked at equally in regards to how good of a teacher they are. When I was younger, I had an amazing 4th grade teacher that happened to be a man. He was just as caring as my female teachers. He was amazing at his job but people still viewed him differently because he was not a woman. Everyone should have an equal opportunity to be able to do the job that they want to do, no matter what their gender is. Great job on your blog post!!
