How do we talk about issues that matter?
I think talking about issues that matter is very easy and very important. People are just talking about the wrong issues, or are being guided in the wrong directions by their feelings when talking about issues. I feel like no one uses their heads when discussing major issues. It's always about how they feel and "Well what about how I feel about this?" or "well this hurts my feelings- or his feelings." People are often offended by the most mundane topics which, for some reason, lead to tears, screaming fits, and even violence sometimes. And what I am saying is not being directed at just any race, gender, religion, political affiliate, etc.. All sides are guilty of this. It is so saddening to see that the world has seemingly lost its sense of rationality and immediately resort to screaming, crying, and throwing around "shut up"s and "f*ck you"s to everyone who doesn't agree with them. Sometimes topics are heavy, sometimes we get offended, and yes, sometimes we do lose our sense of self-control and go off the deep end and make fools of ourselves. We are humans after all. But for it to be every time someone doesn't agree 100% with you is ridiculous, and embarrassing. I am not sure who we can blame for this, as it seems people of all ages and backgrounds do it. I believe that the education system is encouraging I and not seeing it as a problem.. Same thing with the media. Getting people to see your point of view, and even change their outlooks for the better will never be resolved by you screaming and crying at them like a toddler who was told "no". Learning to be rational, mature, and informative on whatever matter you are trying to discuss will make your, and everyone else lives a little bit better.
